My latest vision board created in August 2025 is already beginning to reveal its mouth-watering bounty.
I say ‘mouth-watering’ because both images are edible, I really enjoy eating them – and they’re very good for you too. I’m taking it as a sign to consume more of them this Autumn because my whole board is alive with the vibrancy and energy of the Autumn and this is one way for me to ingest its vitality.
Marvelous Mushrooms
Three weeks after making my board I flew out to Basel with my daughter and travelled on to the Alsace wine growing area, centred around Colmar, France. The last days of summer were upon us and already there were mushrooms crowding the market stalls and growing wild in the woodlands around the town.
They made me think of the tall, mushroom edifices on my board since, as a motif, they were everywhere – even in the street art. And they have prompted me to learn more about Mycology and the mysterious ways mushrooms communicate underground.
When I arrived home, my dodgy hip, which had not troubled me unduly on holiday, started to niggle big time. Because I was already ‘in the system’, the NHS offered me a smaller, private hospital in Somerset for a hip replacement. What’s delicious about this is that I had only heard about this option because of a chance encounter with a stranger on the beach. She said, if I was otherwise in good health and not on medications, then the hospital might accept me and the waiting times would be shorter. They did.
On my next visit to the health store, I enquired about rebuilding skin tissue post-operation. I had to smile when I realised they had recommended the mushroom Cordyceps.

Awesome Apples
The second vision board synchronicity occurred driving to Shepton Mallet to meet with my surgeon. It was impossible not to notice the apple trees everywhere, redolent with shiny red apples – not surprising either since Somerset is known for its cider making prowess. However, I didn’t think of cider immediately, I remembered the shiny red apples on my vision board.
Since we’d arrived in Shepton Mallet early, we decided to explore the high street where a greetings card caught my eye in a shop featuring local artists – a water colour of shiny red apples. To me they represent the epitome of vitality and an omen that I’ve come to the right place for the operation.
This card now sits on the window ledge opposite the bed to greet me each morning, a symbol of health and healing that led me to Shepton Mallet for a new lease of life. A sign too that the operation will go smoothly, successfully – and soon too …. because 3 days later they offered me 8th October!
Isaac Newton
Another curious apple coincidence occurred moments before I started work on my latest vision board. Sat beneath the apple trees with Sharon, sipping coffee, I stood up to stretch my legs. At that very moment an apple dropped from the tree right into the centre of the chair where I’d been sitting. I can’t report any earth-shattering breakthroughs as the Law of Gravity was for Isaac Newton. But to Sharon’s recollection this has never occurred under her apple trees before.
So I’ve continued to meditate on the symbolism of apple which includes words like: knowledge, good health, wholeness, wisdom, love, bounty, abundance, fertility. I’ll take all and any of these with the exception of apple’s association with temptation, sin and the fall of man, which I don’t abide.
Autumn
Since apples are ready in the Autumn, they also represent the bounty of the earth, a reward for one’s labour, a time for harvesting and being grateful for what we reap. I like this metaphor too for its implication for the ripening of knowledge and experience which I am also busy gathering together and writing up in my book on Environmental Psychotherapy, which I’m calling ‘Hearth’.
Since the ‘hearth’ is associated with the element of Fire, I am fully absorbing the reds and oranges all over my vision board to give me the energy, passion and encouragement to ‘go for it’.

The three Hemispheres and the Intuitive Vision Board process
Meanwhile an important message from the ‘spheres’ represented by the three pumpkins on my vision board – a reminder of how it is the Intuitive Vision Board works the two hemispheres of the brain in tandem to create a third, new resolution. It’s very intuitive like that.
The right hemisphere (Remarkable Right) initiates by exposing the totality of the ground that is yours to experience; the images that arrive on the vision board ensure nothing important is excluded from the ‘big picture’ simply because it doesn’t make sense to the left hemisphere (Logical Left).
Next, Logical Left kicks in – but only after Remarkable Right has posited a much expanded field in which it is possible for you to play in. Logical Left’s task is now to unpack, clarify and render the images more explicit.
Then, it’s back to the Remarkable Right to reintegrate what Logical Left has exposed to reach a new, greater understanding of the potential housed in your Intuitive Vision board.
At this point Logical Left can once more recede into the background and not interfere or curtail the ultimate conclusions of Remarkable Right that you will act upon.
