Morocco was on my vision board. I just didn’t know it.

And yet, mysteriously, there it was.
A market stall piled high with dates and dried fruits.
A roof terrace with pink walls, low seating and round raffia wall hangings.
And the doorway of a mosque.
Can’t get more Moroccan than that!

Wind forward two months and my daughter comes up with the idea of a long weekend in Rabat, Morocco for us – without knowing anything about my vision board.

Stalls laden with dates and dried fruits were everywhere as we wandered through the medina.
But more surprising was the roof terrace of the riad where we were staying – awfully reminiscent of the style, colours and textures of the image on my vision board.

And then there were the mosques: the Grand Mosque of Rabat and numerous smaller prayer rooms tucked conveniently into the side streets of the city, ready for the call to prayer.
Coincidence? Perhaps.
But this is what I find so intriguing about Intuitive Vision Boards. When we’re not setting out to make a conventional vision board of things we know we want (or believe we do), we’re bypassing that thinking mind altogether and allowing something less obvious to emerge.
And sometimes we only understand what we’ve chosen much later.

The moth that inspired the colours for the new website
Another key image on my board is the moth sitting right at its centre – this turns out to have been rather important too.
It’s a privet hawk-moth, the largest resident species of moth in the UK. As a creature of the night, for me it carries the symbolism of bringing what is hidden into the light, which we do when creating the Intuitive Vision Board and attending to the home, the hearth, in such a way that we make conscious our need for change.
But there was something else I loved about this particular image: the flower on which the moth was resting and its beautiful combination of green, pink and taupe. Without consciously planning it to be that way, those colours became the inspiration for the revamp and softening of my website.
So my Intuitive Vision Board has been quietly working its magic on me on several fronts – pointing me towards a place I hadn’t thought of visiting and influencing creative decisions I had yet to make.
And perhaps all this has made you wonder what might emerge next on your Intuitive Vision Board.
